Many contemporary global and domestic conflicts are driven by group-based differences. Our digital culture tends to function as an environment which promotes polarizing views and stimulates the process of othering. The nature in which information circulates by means of images in our contemporary world gives images a lot of responsibility within that process.
BLACK BOXES REFLECT THE BRIGHTEST aims to expose the constructed nature of the narratives that propagate the image of the Other hereby questioning what the images represent. It explores the power of distance and representation in the online world.
It attempts this by using cinematic means to emulate the mechanisms by which these images circulate and are presented on digital media. Both fictional and found-footage images are included. Qualities such as the repetition of images, use of spectacle and textual influence, are echoed to embody the same language to question itself and what message it propagates.

With Pas de Deux, Studio Yūgō explores the temporary state of the human body in classical ballet. Through analysis software, the movements of bodies are recorded in digital values, without losing the movement. This data forms the groundwork for the kinetic installation. The rhythm and transience of the dance are translated into a fixed form and machine movement patterns. The rhythms and patterns adopted by the pendulous visualize executed dance movements. The installation creates through an algorithm his own choreography witch is always different; without the human body, but rich in all its movements. A dance that is not limited to time and continues to perpetuate.
